Hair Relaxers & Straighteners Linked To Cancer
Hair relaxers are a type of hair product that are primarily marketed to African American women. They are designed to chemically alter the natural texture of hair, making it straighter and smoother in appearance. However, as recent studies indicate, the regular use of hair relaxers can have serious health consequences, particularly for Black and/or African American women.
This is due to the higher prevalence and frequency of hair product use, as well as the harsher chemical formulations found in many hair relaxers. While hair relaxers may provide temporary cosmetic benefits, the potential risks associated with their use should not be ignored.
